The Challenge
A leading international airport was undertaking a major construction project which involved significantly enhancing its facilities in order to be able to handle millions of passengers a year. This highly complex construction project included the construction of a landmark terminal building, two satellite buildings, supporting infrastructure and connections to national motorway, rail and underground networks.
The Solution
Given the scale of the challenges presented by this extraordinarily complex construction venture, the airport body's project controls group was seeking the provision, implementation and support of a highly robust project controls software solution.
The solution had to provide five chief functions in a fully integrated manner which were to include: project planning, cost planning, cost management, change management and performance measurement, and especially earned value analysis.
The project to provide the required software solution covered the following key phases: a requirements specification; an invitation to tender, an evaluation of responses and proposed systems; and the implementation of the chosen software solution.
Parity's approach
Parity Business Solutions provided consultancy to undertake the requirements specification; produce the invitation to tender; be part of a group of evaluators assessing the proposed solution and making the final selection, and to assist the project controls project manager in the implementation of the chosen solution.
